The Suns are entereing All-Star weekend on a high
Just before we enter the All-Star break,The Suns defeated a short-handed Warriors team,120 – 98. This is the 16th win for Phoenix out of their last 19 games.
After the match, Coach Monty Williams commented on his team’s winning streak:
“When you’re winning games, you feel it. You know your team is doing what it takes to win games. We’ve won at home, we’ve won on the road.”
As we enter the All-Star break, the Suns are one of the hottest teams in the league. In yesterday’s win, Cameron Payne had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 10 assists. Devin Booker also contributed to the victory with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.
For the Warriors, a lot of the team’s starters were out for this match-up. Draymond Green and Kelly Oubre Jr. are out with injuries, while Curry was given an off night by management. After the game, Steve Kerr explained that this was a planned break for Steph, before the All-Star weekend. This is only the second time that the guard has missed a match all season.
“Everybody on our team is tired and needs a mental break, needs a physical break,” said Kerr in the post-match press conference.
Are the Wizards the underdog to fear for the big teams ?
The Washington Wizards got another win against a top team last night. In a Thursday night home game, they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, 119 – 117.
With this victory, the Wizards have now won against 4 of the league’s title contenders. Over the last 10 games, Washington has 7 wins and will enter the All-Star break on a positive note.
The dynamic duo of Bradley Beal and Russel Westbrook was key for the victory against the Clippers. Beal led both teams in scoring and finished the night with 33 points. Meanwhile, Russ was just short of a triple-double with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Three in a row for the Portland Trail Blazers
After defeating the Warriors yesterday, Portland got another big win against the Sacramento Kings. The Trail Blazers won 123 to 119, as they enter the All-Star weekend with 3 straight wins.
The two PGs – Damian Lillard and DeAron Fox put on dazzling displays throughout the night. Dame finished the game with 44 points, while Fox had a great all-around performance with 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists.
Miami are entering the All-Star Weekend as the 6th seed
The Miami Heat are heading into the All-Star break above .500 hundred. With yesterday’s win against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Heat went up to 6th place in the East.
Jimmy Butler was the key player for Miami, as he ended the night with 29 points, 3 rebounds, and 9 assists. He put on a clutch performance in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 points in the crucial minutes of the game.
