Bridgerton has not stopped being a trend on Netflix since its premiere a few months ago. The upper-class British romance left the audience wanting more, and although a second season has already been confirmed, there is still a long way to go before it comes out. The actors seem like new talents who took their first step with this drama, but they didn’t. In fact, they had already started their career with other projects, although no one recognized them until now.
Regé-Jean Page
The Brit with African roots is the heartthrob of the series, and his excellent performance as Simon Basset showed that it is not his first time on camera. His career dates back to 2004 where he started making small appearances on a few series. In 2015, he had his first big break with Waterloo Road, a series that took place in a troubled school where the drama was the key to his success.
His other major role was in For the People, which recounts the cases run by a successful bar in New York City. There he played Leonard Knox, and his participation made Hollywood notice him for the Netflix project.
Phoebe Dynevor
Daughter of famous actress Sally Dynevor, Phoebe, followed in her mother’s footsteps. Like her setmate, she was a part of Waterloo Road for 20 episodes and devoted herself to seeking more job opportunities, all of which came to her thanks to her ability.
She was one of the Snatch series protagonists, based on the 2017 film of the same name and starring Benicio del Toro and Brad Pitt. Another highlight is Prisoner’s Wives, a BBC drama series in which she plays Lauren Miller, the daughter of an incarcerated gangster.
Nicola Coughlan
Nicola played one of the most beloved characters, and at the age of 33, she gained a reputation with various series such as The Fairytale, Harlots (which is set in a time similar to Bridgerton ) and her longest participation is in Derry Girls, which focuses in adolescent troubles in the early nineties and participates as a Catholic schoolgirl.
The third season has been stopped by COVID-19 so far, but it is a reality that will be launched very soon.
Jonathan Bailey
The man who plays the oldest of Bridgerton’s sons, he has played a wide range of roles in theater, film, and television. He was Leonardo in the 2011 Leonardo series.
He also had credits in Broadchurch, where the murder of a child causes a frenzy in a small community, but perhaps his most remembered role – besides Anthony – is that of Sam in Crashing, a character who is addicted to sex.
Claudia Jesse
Eloise Bridgerton is the cultured and independent sister of the protagonist, and her face had already appeared on the small screen thanks to British series such as Doctors and Porters. Her most important role – in addition to her role in Bridgerton – is that of Amelia Sedley in the miniseries Vanity Fair, where she plays the daughter of a wealthy London family.
This historical drama is based on William Makepeace Thackeray’s novel and was a tremendous success in its native land for its story and cast.
