Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is an upcoming game, predicted to be released sometime in 2021. This is a third-person action Role Playing Game (RPG) said to be playable on platforms like Microsoft Windows (PC) and certain consoles. It is both developed and published by Tuque Games and is the third main game in the Dark Alliance game series of the Dungeons and Dragons franchise. It is said to be the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance and Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II.

This is an American game publisher company, primarily focused on fantasy and science-fiction themed games and formerly an operator of retail stores for games. Developer Tuque Games is a Canadian video game developer company based in Montreal, Quebec and Canada.

The action role-playing game Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, the series upon which Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance hails from, was developed by Snowblind Studios and released in 2001 for platforms like the PlayStation 2 console and then later the Xbox and GameCube video game consoles. It takes place in the city of Baldur’s Gate and surrounding areas, all within the Forgotten Realms. The ruleset is derived from the third edition of Dungeons and Dragons, while the plot remains unrelated to previous PC games.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance was originally set to be released for PC and consoles in fall 2020 but it got delayed to 2021 soon afterwards. Koch Media is set to publish the retail version of the game following release.

The gameplay of the game is set in the tundra region of Icewind Dale of the Northern Regions. It is said to feature characters originating from R.A. Salvatore’s novel series, The Legend of Drizzt. Four such playable characters include Drizzt Do’Urden, Catti-Brie, Bruenor Battlehammer and Wulfgar. On that note, Robert Anthony Salvatore is an American author best known for his work, The DemonWars Saga. The Legend of Drizzt series began in 1988 and consists of a total of 36 books so far. They are based in the Forgotten Realms setting in the dimension of Abeir-Toril, on the continent Faerûn within the popular Dungeons and Dragons universe. Drizzt Do’Urden remains the main character of most of these books.

This new entry will include both single player mode and multiplayer mode. In single player mode, players can choose any four characters to their liking to control and swap in between. Multiplayer mode features a split-screen local co-op mode or an online co-op mode supporting up to four players.

Following Wizards of the Coast’s acquisition of Tuque Games in October 2019, Salvatore aided the game’s development and production since its inception. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance was officially announced while showcasing a teaser trailer at The Game Awards 2019 on December 12th.
