Prince of Persia isn’t a new title for veteran gamers. Even among the array of games included in this series Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time really stood out, being critically acclaimed and loved by fans. Now the game is making an iconic return as a Remake game. The game will be Remade for the first time by Ubisoft, so that veteran fans can relive this epic legendary tale and new players can make a new discovery of epic action and adventure. Players can once again embark on a quest as the Prince, in order to save his kingdom from the antagonist, the treacherous Vizier. This timeless classic is set to renew itself in the hearts of gamers worldwide sometime in 2021.
The game is being Developed by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai and falls under the genres of Action and Adventure. It will be available on Epic Game, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox One and Playstation 4. It is currently stated to be Rated 16, for audiences 16 years and above.
The original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was an action-adventure, hack and slash game developed and published by Ubisoft as well. It was first released for platforms like Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and Microsoft Windows back in November 2003. This too was a reboot game of the Prince of Persia series, created by Jordan Mechner. Mechner himself served as a creative consultant, designer and scenario writer for the game.
The Prince of Persia series used to be Ubisoft’s flagship series back in the day before Assassin’s Creed took over the throne. Overshadowed by Assassin’s Creed, it’s been over a decade since Prince of Persia showed any form of revival or return. But now fans can finally have the much awaited return of the series; during September 2020’s Ubisoft Forward, the company confirmed that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was in development. The initial reception to the news was mostly mixed due to the game underwhelming graphics back in 2003. Regardless, fans were still hyped for the return of a timeless classic.
Just like the 2003 version engraved itself in fans’ hearts due to its innovative gameplay, compelling story and charismatic characters despite the restrictions faced, this Remake is sure to renew all those epic impressions and secure them even firmer still! The game has been reimagined for the new decade, allowing players to fight new enemy character models and enjoy brand new cinematic sequences along with enhanced voices, sounds, parkour animations and soundtracks.
Once again wield the power of time via mastery of the Sands of Time and use the dagger to reverse, accelerate, freeze and slow time itself to solve puzzles and progress through the game. The controls too have been modernized, now the Camera, basic controls and combat system have been completely rebuilt and updated for today’s standards. Players also have the choice of the original or modernized mapping. Some thrilling graphical updates have been added to ancient Persia which now boast far more realistic graphics. The overall experience further expands with thrilling bonuses, like the unlockable Prince of Persia original game from 1989 (the ’92 Mac version), which can be accessed from the main menu whenever desired.
