Star Wars Day was celebrated by fans on May 4th , it was made as a pun of the Jedi phrase. Star Wars is much more than just a quote, and the day of the celebration itself is known worldwide and is treated almost like a holiday. It is amazing how one movie influenced the connection of many people around the world, who unconsciously became part of this crazy story.
Formed in 1977, the “Star Wars” series of live-action films are incredibly accepted in popular culture. The franchise spread very quickly through various forms of media, such as television series, video games, short stories, comic books, theme park attractions, and themed areas.
The History of Star Wars Day
“May the Fourth be with you” was first used by Margaret Thatcher’s political party to congratulate her on her election on May 4th, 1979. This phrase very quickly became known around the world.
However, the first celebration of May 4 as Star Wars Day, happened much later. In 2001, at the Toronto Underground Cinema, this day came to life for the first time as a day of celebration. The first official Star Wars Day festivities included costume competitions such as the I movie marathon.
Celebration of The Day
How you celebrate Star Wars Day depends primarily on you and how much of a fan you are on a scale of 1-10. Movie marathons and Trivia games are just some of the suggestions. “Vadering” to another person has also become a popular ritual performed on this day.
