High School Musical star Joshua Basset said in his video, where he spoke with admiration about Harry Styles, that the video was actually a “coming out” video.
On Monday, the theme of his video was allegedly the song “Driver’s License” performed by Olivia Rodrigo. However, things turned in a completely different direction. Fans redirected the conversation towards his potential collaboration with singer Harry Styles. Through talking about Harry, however, Joshua revealed some new details about himself.
In one of the many questions about Harry, Joshua explained why he admires Harry so much.
“He is a very classy man,” Joshua Bassett began. “He’s also very well-rounded and kinda does it all – acting, singing, fashion. I think that he’s just a nice guy who doesn’t say too much, but when he talks it matters.”
“He’s just cool. Like, he’s cool. Who doesn’t think Harry Styles is cool?”
And then came that crucial moment. After he said that Harry was hot and charming, an iconic sentence followed, “This is my coming out video, I guess”. And so simply, so relaxed, he gave us one big thing about himself. How he declared himself a member of the LGBT community caused applause and respect from the public.
Why This Matters So Much?
Generation Z, those born between 1997 and 2002, is quite relaxed about sexuality and, unlike older generations, are easier to carry and easier to accept their sexuality. According to survey data from Gallup, one in six seniors in Gen Z belongs to the LGBT community.
“The vast majority of Generation Z adults who identify as LGBT+ – 72 percent – say they are bisexual,” Jones wrote in a report announcing the results in February.
The mitigating circumstance is that as new generations come, society becomes safer and everyone gets the right to be exactly what they are and everyone gets a chance to, with all their differences, without condemnation, reach their stars!
