Tennis legend Serena Williams has been seen leaving Wimbledon in tears. She was forced to leave Wimbledon and withdraw from the first round due to a leg injury.
Her dreams of winning the eighth title and equalizing Margaret Court’s Grand Slam record of 24 will not be able to come true and have been interrupted in tears. This happened because Williams had slipped on the grass and “had to leave the court to receive treatment,” on her left ankle. “She tried to carry on but retired at 3-3 after 34 minutes,” the statement was from Wimbledon.
How did the injury happen?
When she fell, she winced in pain and tried to walk carefully, but it was obvious how hard it was for her. After losing the game, she went to the locker room. Later, Williams came back to continue, however with a score of 3-all, her leg hurt a lot. She covered her face with her hands and began to cry. Serena then received great support from the audience, but eventually fell to her knees and called it quits.
She reached the net to lend a hand to Sasnovich’s opponent, conceding with the score 3-all, 15-30.
The videos show her splitting as she left the field. The audience was extremely emotional and provided great support to the tennis player. “We’re heartbroken for you, Serena,” Wimbledon tweeted Tuesday. “Our seven-time singles champion is forced to retire from The Championships 2021 through injury.”
According to the news outlet, Sasnovich commented on the injury “Of course I’m so sad for Serena.” “She’s a great champion. It happens sometimes in tennis, but all the best for her and her recovery,” Williams’ she added.
Unfortunately, things like this often happen in sports, but we know that after this she will return even stronger to the field and overcome herself and all obstacles!
