Roger Federer, an 8-time Wimbledon champ, lost against 14th-seeded Hubert Hurkacz of Poland on Wednesday. This tennis player has shown his talent, and we are often used to celebrating his victories, but still, this is not the moment.
This is his 22nd appearance in the tournament. When asked if this might be his last arrival here he vaguely replied, “I don’t know. I really don’t know. I’ve got to regroup. ”
However, retirement is not yet an option. He answered questions about retirement: “No, I hope not. … The goal is to play, of course. ”We are certainly very happy that we will still be able to watch his tennis skills. This thought was definitely in the audience’s mind when they saw that Federer was 5-0 behind in the third set. Still, the fans supported him and he tried to get back on track.
“The last few games, obviously, you can feel that you’re not coming back from it,” said Federer, who spoke steadily. “I’m not used to that kind of situation, obviously, very much. Especially not here.”
“I’m actually very happy I made it as far as I did here and I was actually able to play Wimbledon at the level that I did after everything I went through,” Federer said. “Of course I would like to play (Wimbledon) again, but at my age, you’re just never sure what’s around the corner. “
What does Hurkacz say?
Hurkacz, a 24-year-old from Poland, said Federer was his idol and that he could not have expected such a result at all. For him, this is an extraordinary experience that further motivated him and encouraged his love of tennis.
Hurkacz’s opponent Friday will be No. 7 Matteo Berrettini of Italy, who eliminated No. 16 Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada 6-3, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 to reach his second major semifinal.
Strange as it may seem to us, things change in life. Not everything is always so perfect, and we want Federer to regain all his strength and power that lies in him! And to Hurckaz – congratulations!
